Colin Freeman LLB (Hons) MInstLM

Managing Director | Solicitor

Colin qualified as a solicitor in 1998. He specialises predominantly in family law, litigation/dispute resolution, wills, probate and settlement agreements and has notable cases reported in the Court of Appeal and High Court.

His litigation work also includes contentious probate disputes with one of his cases having been reported in the Wills & Trusts Law Reports (WTLR) and is referenced in two Law Society Legal Handbooks for Inheritance Act Claims and Contentious Probate.

Colin also has experience representing celebrities, other lawyers (including barristers), and high net worth clients including a client who appeared in The Times Richest 100 list.

Colin is a very experienced solicitor and acts for clients internationally as well as in the local courts and tribunals throughout the country.  As stated above, he has also represented clients in the Royal Courts of Justice both in the Court of Appeal and High Court, in the High Court District Registries, the Employment Appeals Tribunal, and as part of High Profile Group Litigation.


Paula Freeman LLB (Hons)

Director | Solicitor

Paula qualified as a solicitor in 1998.

She specialises in wills, probate, and family law.

Paula’s varied probate caseload has included complicated high-value Estates and complex intestate Estates whereby she traced unaware beneficiaries including those living overseas.

Every Estate however large or small is given the same meticulous attention to detail, and the emphasis is always on solid professional service and excellent client care.

Paula read Law at Aberystwyth University graduating with a 2:1 degree in 1995. Thereafter, Paula continued her professional training at the College of Law at Chester where she met her future husband and co-partner, Colin.


Julian Palmer

Consultant Solicitor

Julian has worked closely with Colin over the years both at Freeman Jones Solicitor and at Colin’s former practice.

Julian provides advice in our commercial/non-contentious department.

Julian has been a solicitor for over 22 years and his areas of interest and expertise lie in:

  • company law including setting up businesses, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, MBO/MBI’s, and business succession planning;
  • commercial law including drafting complex commercial contracts, finding solutions to technical legal and commercial issues and providing advice in a clear and approachable manner;
  • tax planning business owner’s estates to ensure maximum tax mitigation with suitable family succession.

Julian has also been a lecturer and examiner for the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners teaching in the UK and off shore jurisdictions on tax and trust matters.


Catrin Hughes


Catrin qualified as a Solicitor in 2017 and provides services in our litigation and private client departments

Catrin graduated with a bachelor of laws (honours) degree from John Moore’s University in 2008.  After attaining a postgraduate qualification from the College of Law in Chester namely her Legal Practice Certificate, Catrin joined another well-established firm of solicitors where she trained, qualified, and remained as a solicitor for several years.


Catrin has been involved in litigation since qualification and advises our clients concerning a wide range of legal disputes including:

  • contentious probate;
  • will disputes;
  • breach of contract claims;
  • commercial disputes;
  • neighbour/land disputes; and
  • general litigation.

Keira Hand


Keira is a family law solicitor.

She advises and represents clients getting divorced or separating and also provides comprehensive straightforward advice about financial settlements, cohabitation disputes, injunction proceedings, domestic abuse, and all arrangements for children.

Her divorce caseload comprises both straightforward financial cases as well as those involving substantial income and capital, in this country and abroad.

Keira is very client focussed and listens carefully to her client’s needs and objectives to ensure she can adopt a bespoke tailor-made approach to their case, with compassion and empathy.  This helps to alleviate the stress of family breakdown whilst also providing practical, realistic, and solution-driven advice.  Her sharp mind and excellent negotiation skills help ensure that Keira’s clients achieve successful outcomes in their cases.

Impressively Keira obtained first-class honours law degree before joining Freeman Jones in 2016 where she trained and qualified as a solicitor.


Natalie Laird

Graduate Paralegal

Natalie joined Freeman Jones Solicitors as a graduate paralegal working in our Family and Litigation Departments. Natalie assists the directors and solicitors with all aspects of litigation, family, and child law cases.

Natalie works closely with and is supervised by Colin Freeman – Managing Director.
